Young & Perez was founded on January 1, 1998. The primary positions held by both partners and its counsel throughout their entire professional careers have been that of the defense of workers' compensation claims. For this reason, the firm has dedicated itself to this area of specialty. In this way, the firm intends to provide to its clients the most competent, experienced and cost-effective service possible
Members of the Firm
Robert J. Young, born at Cherry Point Military Base, North Carolina on May 21, 1956; admitted to New Jersey State Bar in 1981. Education: Seton Hall University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1978); Seton Hall School of Law (J. D. 1981). Law clerk to Judges Joseph Deegan and Constance Stroumstos, J.S.C. Member New Jersey State Bar Association, Executive Committee to the Workers’ Compensation Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Hunterdon County Bar Association and NJ Self-Insurers’ Association.
Update: May 2005: Robert Young was recently named as Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren Counties only New Jersey workers' compensation "Super Lawyer" in the May 2005 New Jersey Monthly magazine.
Appointed to a subcommittee to review an all-encompassing bill regarding proposed changes to the compensation statue. Selected as a Master to the country's first Inn of Court program for the practice of Workers' Compensation and served in that capacity from 1995-1997. Appointed to the Division's first Judicial Selection Nominating Committee and the COURTS committee to work directly with the Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation regarding Y2K compliance.
Mr. Young practices statewide in the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims and is a Certified Workers' Compensation Lawyer. His legal experience consists primarily of the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims and Personal Injury litigation. He has been and is presently retained as an expert in Workers’ Compensation insurance policy disputes. At the request of national accounts, he regularly monitors the legal services rendered by approved panel attorneys. Mr. Young frequently lectures to Workers’ Compensation carriers, employers and the general public on Workers’ Compensation related matters throughout New Jersey and New York. He has vast experience in the handling of employment-generated claims involving cardiac conditions, cancers, asbestosis, toxic exposures, dependency and multiple employer issues.
Mr. Young has developed a particular expertise in the handling and preparation of plant closing claims. While a partner with Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas he managed a Liability department as well as the Workers’ Compensation department and directed the handling of automobile, products liability, property damage, professional malpractice, contractual, and commercial claims. He also has significant experience in administrative law proceedings and insurance coverage matters. Mr. Young has made numerous appearances in the New Jersey Appellate Division and has practiced before the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Carol Lonergan Perez, born in Flushing, New York on May 4, 1959; admitted to the State of California Bar in 1984, the New York State Bar in 1986 and the New Jersey State Bar in 1985. Education: State University of New York at Stony Brook (B.A. 1981), University of Santa Clara (J.D. 1984). Member of the Hunterdon County Bar Association. Ms. Perez served as a member of the District VIII Ethics Committee (1995-1998). Appointed as a Barrister to the Country's first Inn of Court program for the practice of Workers’ Compensation and served in that capacity from 1995-1997.
Ms. Perez is a Certified Workers' Compensation Lawyer and has extensive experience representing insurance carriers and their insureds in workers’ compensation matters, including complex claims involving psychiatric stress induced illnesses, cancers, asbestosis, toxic exposures, death claims and multiple employer issues. As a trial attorney for Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas and Palumbo & Renaud she developed an expertise in litigation of insurance claims involving motor vehicle accidents, PIP disputes, products liability, and general negligence actions. Ms. Perez has made numerous appearances in the New Jersey Appellate Division. She has conducted client and public seminars on significant developments in New Jersey workers' compensation law.

Thomas W. Polaski, born in Bayonne, New Jersey on August 9, 1946; admitted to the New Jersey State Bar in 1977. Education: Newark College of Engineering (B.S.1969) New York University (M.S.E.E., 1973), Seton Hall School of Law (J.D. 1977). Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Tarleton, J.S.C. Member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers College of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering.
Mr. Polaski was the former managing partner of the workers’ compensation department at O’Donnell, Kennedy, Vespole & Piechta and Trifolis, P.A. resulting in immeasurable experience in that area. As a trial attorney with Hoagland, Longo, Oropollo & Moran and the O’Donnell office he developed special skills in the areas of personal injury, products liability (particularly, asbestos claims), coverage disputes, architectural malpractice, construction claims and toxic tort/environmental matters. As counsel to the firm, Mr. Polaski provides trial assistance and 20 years of experience in broad-based areas of law.
Jonathan Bubrow, graduated in 1976 from Rutgers University with a B.A. Degree in economics and was named to the Dean's List from 1974-1967. He received his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude in 1979 and was subsequently admitted to both the New Jersey State and Federal Bars.
In the past 25 years, Mr. Bubrow has successfully litigated numerous civil cases in areas of negligence, product liability, malpractice and insurance coverage. He has extensive trial experience throughout New Jersey with over 100 jury verdicts, many involving insurance defense.
Mr. Bubrow previously was Staff Counsel for Selective Insurance Company, (Passman, Dougherty & Zirulnik and Sherlock, Dougherty & Zirulnik); a partner with Harwood Lloyd, P.C.; an associate and partner at Hoagland, Longo, Oropollo & Moran; a Law Clerk, for the Honorable John C. Demos, Assignment Judge, Middlesex County, New Jersey Superior Court, and a Past Trustee (1997-2000) for the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and member New Jersey and American Bar Associations.
