Areas of Practice
Young & Perez specializes in Workers’ Compensation and the partners have extensive knowledge in other areas of practice as well. As partners in a large law firm and now as the partners of Young & Perez, they bring over 35 years of collective experience to the following areas:
Workers' Compensation When you are denied compensation or want to appeal a decision, you’ll need an experienced workers’ compensation attorney. Young and Perez has been working in the field of workers’ compensation in New Jersey with over 35 years of collective experience. They have been active in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the New Jersey Bar, of which Mr. Young has been an Executive Committee member. They have extensive experience for both insureds and insurers.
Personal Injury The primary aim of personal injury law is to provide relief for damages incurred because of negligence (such as causing an accident by failing to obey traffic rules) or by making or offering defective products and services (strict liability). Among the types of damages that may be recovered are loss of earnings capacity; pain and suffering; and reasonable medical expenses. Young & Perez has experience handling many different types of personal injury actions, many of which were of a catastrophic nature.
Traffic Court Traffic court is responsible for adjudicating motor vehicle violations, including speeding, illegal parking, expired inspection stickers, and more. Most towns have their own traffic court and usually, if you want to please guilty, you can just send your check by mail and never appear in court. However, there may be times when you want to dispute the charge. Young & Perez, with its long familiarity with local municipalities and jurisdictions, can help you through the process.
Municipal Law Young & Perez can represent individuals, businesses, utilities, associations and municipalities in all areas of municipal law including planning and zoning regulations; property tax issues; contracts; building and construction issues, and more.
Real Estate Closings Although some people think they can handle the process of escrow and closing when buying or selling property, it’s advisable to have legal representation. The process can be Byzantine and an attorney, such as the partners of Young & Perez can ensure that your interests are well represented.
Wills and Living Trusts A trust is an arrangement under which one person, called a trustee, holds legal title to property for another person, called a beneficiary. A "living trust" is simply a trust you create while you're alive, rather than one that is created at your death under the terms of your will. Different kinds of living trusts can help you avoid probate, reduce estate taxes or set up long-term property management. While both living trusts and wills can be relatively simple to create, there can often be legal and financial complexities that would be best handled by experienced attorneys. If you are considering a living trust or are planning your will, Young & Perez can provide their expertise to make sure that your estate is handled exactly as you intend.
